Our Lectern is the natural next step in the STILT® product line. With your book’s spine and hinges already well supported, it’s time to tilt your book toward the world.
Our Lecterns come standard with a Cradle, Lectern & Ledge. You choose the angles. Our Lectern base + Ledge can also be ordered separately as a modular attachment.
Features
Anti-slip surfaces
All of our Lecterns feature an anti-slip layer on the base to keep them securely in place on the table, as well as on the surface to ensure a firm grip with the Cradle.
Ledge support
All of our Lecterns come equipped with a STILT® Ledge, designed to be interchangeable for compatibility with a wide range of book thicknesses. Our Ledges nest together when not in use for ease of storage and retrieval.
Weight add-ons
Our STILT® Weights are compatible with our Cradles when mounted on a forward tilt of up to 35º. The anti-slip base layer keeps the weights securely in place along the margin of your book.
Collapsible
Like all STILT products, all Lectern parts fold flat for easy storage and transport when not in use. They are labeled by size and angles so they are easy to retrieve for your next exhibition build.
Because the pieces separate, the Cradle lifts off the Lectern base and sits flat on the table whenever you want the book low.
Choose the Lectern for modular freedom and the Codex when you would rather have one piece and one geometry.
Choosing your Angles
From 12mo to Folio, the two angles are chosen independently of one another within any size category.
The opening angle is how widely the book is held. It belongs to the Cradle, and comes in 90º, 100º, 110º and 120º. A tight binding or a fragile spine is happier at 90º or 100º; a volume that opens freely, or one meant to be read from across a room, will carry 110º or 120º.
The forward tilt is how far the whole book leans towards the reader. It belongs to the Lectern, and each Lectern holds two tilts rather than one: turn the piece over and it presents its second angle. Choose the shallower Lectern for 15º or 25º, the steeper for 35º or 45º.

*The Elephant is the exception. Its opening angle is chosen exactly as it is at every other size, in 90º, 100º, 110º and 120º, while the forward tilt is settled for you at a fixed 30º.

Within a size, the angles mix freely. An Octavo Lectern at any tilt will carry an Octavo Exhibition Cradle at any opening angle, so a Lectern bought this year still meets a Cradle bought the next.
For an especially long or heavy volume, take the Lectern one size larger than the book. If you are uncertain which size is right, feel free to contact us for guidance.
