Exhibition Cradle
The Exhibition Cradle provides stable, discreet support for book display and study. Designed to remain visually unobtrusive, it allows focus on the book itself rather than its mount. Each Cradle is proportioned slightly smaller than the book it supports, ensuring full structural stability across the spine, boards, and text block.
The Cradle’s soft base allows it to glide smoothly along the table, so you move the Cradle—not the book—minimizing direct handling of fragile materials.
Available in ten book sizes and four opening angles to accommodate a range of formats and display requirements.
Size Choice
Our off-the-shelf Cradles are available in a range of standard book sizes. Average dimensions for height, width, and thickness are listed alongside each size. We also include an average wrap-around dimension (width × 2 + thickness). If your book’s measurement exceeds our recommendation, we suggest selecting the next size up.
Our weight guidelines are designed to ensure optimal performance when using Cradles with accessories. However, the stand-alone Cradles themselves can safely support a significantly higher distributed weight. If you are working with a particularly heavy volume, please contact us for advice.
For oblong books, we recommend choosing a Cradle one size larger. Alternatively, we can produce a bespoke oblong Cradle to fit your needs — please get in touch at info@stiltbookcradles.com
Opening Angle Choice
120º for maximum visibility for bindings with maximum spine flexibility.
110º for good visibility with use on bindings with minor spine stiffness.
100º for a balance between visibility and secure support for tight spines or fragile board attachments.
90º for maximum support for tight or fragile spines and fragile board attachments.
Surface Material Choice
Slip-resistant Field Surface: High-friction, durable contact surface for open-air applications
Slip-resistant Museum Surface: High-compliance, medium-friction contact surface for delicate objects.
Smooth Museum Surface: High-compliance, low-friction contact surface for reposition-able object support, friable binding materials, dust jackets and metals.

Assembly
All Cradles include clear assembly instructions and feature precision magnetic attachments for quick, secure setup.
Compatibility
All Exhibition Cradles are compatible with our Exhibition Lectern and Hammock of corresponding size. The four largest Cradle sizes of any opening angle are compatible with our Stage of corresponding size. All Cradles are designed to accommodate STILT Weights.
